Josh Janssen: A Passionate Journey in Fire Safety Advocacy For Josh Janssen, Prevent Training Solutions is not just a career move; it’s a profound commitment fueled by a three-decade journey in the fire service. His dream of returning to those roots, where passion fuels a relentless pursuit of knowledge, perfectly complimented PTS’s mission to redefine training and culture within the fire service. His entrance into the realm of firefighting was not accidental but driven by an inherent passion for fire and safety. Over the past 30 years, this passion has evolved into a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of fire service training. Currently immersed in nearly two dozen training cadres within his department alone, Josh is an instructor and a seasoned expert actively working to reshape the training landscape. His leadership extends beyond local boundaries, with global contributions as a participant in worldwide committees with UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) and National Industrial Security Systems (NISS), focusing on structural fire attack methods. This global perspective underscores his commitment to ensuring optimal safety measures are implemented universally. A decade ago, Josh initiated live fire trainings in collaboration with like-minded firefighters, fostering handson experiences that bridged the looming experience gap. It was during these endeavors that he crossed paths with Cody Snow and Dave Morgan. The trio collectively aimed to address a challenge faced by the fire service in not only getting employees through necessary classes, but supplemental ones too. Fast forward to today, Josh’s impact is not just historical but ongoing, and his journey encapsulates the character of a great leader – someone whose passion for the craft goes beyond the ordinary, shaping not just his own path but the future of fire service training as a whole. His current duties within Prevent Training Solutions is a testament to his expertise, achievements, and commitment to the company’s mission. As an ambitious leader, he envisions a future where the fire service culture returns to its roots, driven by passion, knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement. Dave Morgan: Transformative Leadership through Connected Networks Dave Morgan’s twentythree year journey in the fire service stands out as a unique one, shaped by experiences on multiple continents and marked by a passion for excellence in training. His career commenced in the London Fire Brigade, the thirdlargest fire department globally, where he spent 13 years and encountered countless rare and high-profile incidents that contributed to his exceptional skill set. In his early training, Dave navigated a militaristic culture in the fire service, learning from noted instructors who were subject matter experts. This exposure fueled his aspirations to amass a wealth of knowledge and eventually pass it on to future generations himself. His evolution in the field led him to develop a particular passion for live fire training, culminating in his participation in a live fire training cadre that took him around the globe. Upon moving to California in 2007, Dave settled with CAL FIRE in Yucaipa, adding a new chapter to his illustrious career. Around 2009 he crossed paths with Josh Janssen, who was deeply involved in Fire Control 3 training. Recognizing Dave’s grit, Josh took him under his wing, and over the following decade Dave worked his way up, eventually achieving several senior positions. Dave’s versatility extends beyond firefighting, as he also served as the CEO of TNT Rescue, a Jaws of Life company, for 11 years. During this tenure, he networked extensively within the industry, fostering connections that allowed him to teach vehicle extrication on a national scale. His belief in becoming an expert in select niches has proven true as he made a name for himself, teaching at some of the nation’s largest departments, including FDNY. Amidst his varied experiences, Dave’s passion for opening a training center remained constant. When Josh reached out for support in establishing Prevent Training Solutions, Dave didn’t hesitate as his wealth of experience, coupled with a commitment to excellence in training, aligned seamlessly with the intention behind PTS. Dave Morgan’s contributions within PTS is a testimony to his remarkable journey, from the cobblestone streets of London to shaping the future of fire service in California and beyond. His expertise, network, and unwavering passion make him an invaluable asset to the vision of Prevent Training Solutions, propelling the company towards redefining the landscape of fire service training.
