No sooner than this event ended than our CSFA team has been simultaneously preparing for our second annual CTEX event that will be held February 25 to March 3 in Riverside. Though we’re excited this is our second CTEX event, there is an extra level of excitement because of our new partnership with Firehouse Magazine and the Endeavor Media team. Hopefully if you have been watching our CSFA social media platforms, our website, the CSFA Connection, and Firehouse Magazine’s stories you have been keeping up with the planning and buzz behind our new collaboration. As I write this president’s message, I’m happy to report that all things are pointing to a great CTEX event, and through our partnership with Firehouse we’re establishing new opportunities to widen our reach, and bring relevant and fresh training content to California. Our vendor exhibits are sold out, classes are filling up, and final preparations are underway for this impactful West Coast event. Like with any new partnership, we’re learning and growing together. I truly hope our members have looked at our great CTEX program, and register to join us in Riverside. Professional development and learning in general should live on throughout your career. As a fire chief, and the president of CSFA, I believe in leading from the front and continuing my personal journey of learning and developing all skills. I encourage you to do the same and truly evaluate the investment in your personal and professional growth. As a CSFA member you can attend all levels of training throughout California at a discounted rate. I believe our membership helps offset costs and also gives us the opportunity to spread our reach throughout our diverse state. One of CSFA’s priorities is supporting youth pathway programs and Explorer programs throughout California, and cohosting Explorer Academies with our regional fire department partners. Day one of the 2024 CTEX is an Explorer Muster that’s taking place on Sunday, February 25 at the Ben Clark Training Center in Riverside. As of February 1, we have over 25 explorer teams, comprising of over 200 young men and women. We are anticipating over 300 people at the Explorer Muster and hope some of you will be attending. 2024 is off to a great start but we need your support and continued engagement. Please encourage people to take a closer look at the reimagined CSFA that continues to find ways to ensure we’re serving and meeting the needs of the entire California fire service. It’s through your support and participation in our events that we will be able to increase our benefits and partnerships to serve our current and future first responders.
